JB Elwood found his passion for storytelling shaped by the Appalachian lineage of his West Virginian familial roots. Descended from generations of musicians who played fiddle, banjo, and guitar and sang gospel on local radio, JB carries a legacy of grit, melody, and mountain soul.

Born in the Midwest and raised across a patchwork of cities due to his father’s work as a structural engineer, JB’s heart always stayed tied to the sounds of home. Today he lives in Austin, Texas — a city whose creative pulse fuels his ambition.

His stage name honors his late grandfather, John Elwood Ball, while his vintage 1960s Gibson Dove, passed down from his grandfather Eugene “Poppy” Jackson, remains central to his songwriting. Family, heritage, and lived experience define his voice. JB blends Appalachian soul with modern Americana-rock.

He has earned coverage in Earmilk, V13 Magazine, Americana Highways, Bridge Magazine, and other outlets. He has performed on Fox 7 Austin, Up Late Austin, and Local Sets ATX, and played at notable Texas venues. He has also opened for respected artists in the Texas music scene. Multiple music videos have surpassed significant views.

In 2026, JB will release live in-studio performance videos, new singles, and additional music videos. With a vault of new songs ready to go, his next chapter promises his most compelling work yet — a continued journey of heart, heritage, and the stories that connect us all.
